Carlos Ghosn meets with the Renault foundation students I Groupe Renault
For 15 years now, the Renault Foundation has been preparing talented students for successfully addressing emerging career opportunities, through training programmes in the fields of multicultural management, sustainable transport and road safety management.
CARLOG GHOSN MEETS WITH THE RENAULT FOUNDATION STUDENTS
00:09 Mr. President, on behalf of all of us here we are Renault Foundation
beneficiaries and delighted to be part of this family.
00:19 My Master's in Electric Vehicle Mobility allowed me to complete my
engineering training thanks to a programme packed with innovation.
00:28 A training that was dispensed in the top schools here in France that
brought together engineers from all over the world all eager to meet the
challenges of sustainable mobility and the needs of the vehicles of tomorrow.
00:47 I'm very happy to share in your enthusiasm.
00:50 Of course, the goal remains the same: it is to offer young professionals
top quality training.
01:00 We focus on two chosen fields: firstly, sustainable mobility the filed in
which most of you worked and in which we are a very legitimate player as from
the start we promoted zero-emission electric vehicles.
01:17 And secondary, multicultural management the fact of having people who are
at ease in different countries and cultures.
01:29 You started out as an engineer yet today you head an Alliance which is one
of the world's leading auto-makers.
01:37 So in hindsight and given you experience what advice would you give young
people like us starting our carees?
01:45 First, I'd advice you - even though you've joined the company - to
continue to devote time to learning in your profession.
01:52 Be curious and open as that will be increasingly crucial.
01:57 Learn to learn, continue to learn.
01:58 Secondary, establish your career plan: what direction do you want to go
in?
02:03 But don't think of that plan as graven in stone you don't have to follow
it to the letter.
02:09 No, it serves you as a reference but don't hesitate to deviate from it
better opportunities arise.
02:17 And lastly, don't hesitate to adopt a mentor.
02:20 Who is not necessarily your boss.
02:22 It could be someone you respect inside or outside the company who can help
you make the connection between know-how and reality.
02:38 I have a question for you, you joined Renault... after having in the
Foundation.
02:44 Why? What motivated you to join Renault?
02:47 Well, during my MBA with the Foundation I was fortunate to do my
internship with the Renault Group Product Department which was a fascinating
experience.
02:58 So I really wanted to continue working on our range of vehicles for the
future and I'm delighted to be now part of this great adventure.
03:08 And I've heard others among you are joined the Group?
03:10 Yes, I joined the Group at the beginning of September as a specialist in
command channel development for chassis systems.
03:19 Well, I'm very happy when people go from the Foundation to Renault, or to
Nissan.
03:24 Of course, the Foundation's goal is not to be a recruitment agency.
03:28 The Foundation has its own mission.
03:31 But it's nice to have young people like you in the Foundation who say:
"Hey, I'm interested in joining the Group!"
03:39 You specialized in multi-cultural management while you background is in
engineering, in sustainable mobility...
03:46 Which means that what we are doing in these two chosen fields is working
and is attractive for young people like you.
03:56 - Thank you very much.
- Good luck and see you soon.
